Scooper Football wins tough battle with Watertown in first round of playoffs

STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Scoopers came back from a 21-14 deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the Watertown Arrows in the Class 11AA football playoff quarterfinals.

The Scoopers led 14-7 at the half, only to see Watertown score 14 unanswered points to take the lead courtesy of two Lincoln Schutt touchdowns.

Sturgis, however, would score two touchdowns late, including a 76-yard run to the endzone by Quarterback Jaxon Cano, as the Scoopers won 28-21.

The Scoopers will travel to top seed Yankton on Friday, November 7th for a chance to go the Dome.

Yankton punched their ticket to the semifinal by beating Spearfish 12-7.

In other quarterfinal games in Class 11AA, Pierre rolled over Tea Area 41-7 and Huron beat Brookings 7-2.
