RAPID CITY, S.D. – A middle school student at St. Thomas More has brought national recognition after taking first place in the engineering category at one of the nation’s top science competitions.
Brady Sage was one of only 30 finalists in the Thermo Fisher Junior Innovators Challenge held this week in Washington, D.C. The competition features thousands of young scientists from across the country.
Sage’s innovative project earned him the top award in the engineering category. Judges were impressed by the project’s creativity, innovation and its real-world application.
For his achievement, Sage received $5,000 in awards and a new iPad. Demonstrating a commitment to future scientists, $1,000 of his winnings will be donated directly to his school’s science department to support further exploration and innovation by students in Rapid City.
