
RAPID CITY, S.D. – In prep cross country Thursday, Hart Ranch Camping Resort hosted the annual Best of the West.
Winning the boys race was Eric Errea of Rapid City Central with a time of 16:07.97. His teammate Aidan Hermsen finished in second and Quinn Bruch of Sturgis was third. Rylan VanDeest of Spearfish came in fourth.
Winning the girls race was Peyton VanDeest, finishing in a top time of 17:39.33. Kori Keil, also of Spearfish, placed second and Izzy Fischer of Rapid City Central was third. Her teammate Hadley Temple placed fourth.
In other cross country action Thursday, Hill City captured the girls team title of the Region 5A meet for the third year in a row. Custer edged out the Rangers to win the boys title.
Winning the region girls individual title was Taylor Harrelson of Rapid City Christian, finishing in a time of 19:32.19. Hill City’s Andee Frandsen came in second and Rhys Pearson of Belle Fourche was third.
Winning the boys race was Tate Grabow of Hill City with a time of 15:36.95. Lennon Clarkson of Belle Fourche was second and Peyton Krueger of Custer placed third.
