Kathleen Joanne Daczewitz, age 77, of Spearfish, South Dakota, passed away on October 11, 2025. Born in Mobridge, SD, Kathy dedicated her life to caring for others. Kathy was known for her wild and beautiful spirit. She managed an elementary school kitchen, serving generations of students with kindness, laughter, and love. She worked hard throughout her life to provide everything her daughters needed—and more.
An incredible cook, Kathy made everything from scratch and always made sure her loved ones were fed and cared for. She found joy in her garden, surrounded by her colorful flowers and her loyal companions, Charlie and Sophie, who rarely left her side. Her family was truly the center of her world, and her greatest joy came from being “Grandma” to her grandchildren.
In her later years, Kathy faced Alzheimer’s disease with strength and grace. She participated in a clinical trial for several years, proudly telling her doctors, “I want to help find a cure for my family.”
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Wendelin and Katie Senger; her sister, Rosemarie Barten; her brother, Rodney Senger; and her daughter, Sheri Lagge.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Bob Daczewitz; her siblings, Elaine Niemeier, Donna Quinn, Terry Senger, and Dennis Senger; her children, Jim and Donna McCord, and Neil and Jodi Martin, and Scott Lagge; her grandchildren, Brandon, Nick, Chris, Ryan, Nikki, Jessica, Micah, Carter, Lily, Lucy, and Cameron; and her great-grandson, Camden.
