Michael Robert Reimer Sr., 74, of Sturgis, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, at Rapid Monument Hospital.
Born in Hoven, South Dakota, to Emily (Cartwright) and Henry Reimer, Michael proudly served in the United States Marine Corps in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Michael’s greatest joy was his family. With his first wife, Shirley, he had three children: Bobby Reimer, Johnny Reimer, and Carolyn Tracy. With his wife Alemita, he had six children: Michael Reimer Jr., Steven Reimer, Alecia Pearson, Shantel Nelson, Samuel Reimer, and Anthony Reimer. With his wife Evelyn, he embraced two daughters, Samantha Furguson and Kimberly Cumberworth, whom he loved as his own. He also took great pride in his many grandchildren.
He enjoyed making home videos of his children and had a lifelong love of movies, building a collection that included many Disney films.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Emily Cartwright and Henry Reimer; his siblings, Marina, Richard, Gerry, Cheryl, Susan, Judy, Linda, and Danny, and granddaughters, Gabriela and Izabella. He is survived his children, Bobby, Johnny, Caroyln, Michael, Jr., Steven, Alecia, Shantel, Samuel, and Anthony; sister, Lois Reimer Greger of Mobridge, SD; and brother, Steven Reimer of Washington.
The family will gather at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis, SD, Friday, October 10, 2025 and depart for the cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services, with military honors, will be at 2:30 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery.
Michael will be remembered for the deep love he had for his children and grandchildren, and the cherished memories he created with them will live on in their hearts.
