RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Black Hills Center for Aging was awarded a $25,000 grant from the Wharf Sustainable Prosperity Fund for its Backyard Renovation Project. The funding will go toward transforming the outdoor space at 1339 E. North Street for participants in the center’s Adult Day Services program.
The project is intended to create a safe and accessible area with a walking path, permanent shade shelter, artificial turf, raised garden beds and durable patio furniture. The goal is to provide a space for socialization, relaxation and wellness for older adults and people with disabilities.
The Black Hills Center for Aging is a nonprofit that provides adult day services for older adults and disabled individuals living at home or with caregivers. The center offers a safe environment with activities, care and social interaction.
Donations are still being accepted to complete the project, which is already underway. The center plans to share updates and opportunities for community involvement as the work progresses. The center supports families and caregivers in western South Dakota.
