Skaters will get a chance to flash back about 50 years, dress up in 1970’s attire and skate to some groovy music when the Rapid City Recreation Division hosts ‘That 70’s Skate Night’ next Friday.
It’s sure to be one ‘Far Out’ experience!
The event will be held at the Roosevelt Park Ice Arena from 7:15-9:15 p.m. and participants of all ages are invited to take to the ice and skate to Disco songs and other groovy music from the day.
It’s time to hit the ice, dress up in tie dye shirts, peasant blouses, bell-bottoms, plaids and flowery designs, floppy hats, jewelry (and lots of it!) and skate around to the music of the 1970s, when tunes from the likes of the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, the Village People and KC & the Sunshine Band were very popular, and some remain popular today.
“The night promises to be a lot of fun, dressing up in 70’s clothing and skating to some familiar tunes,” said City Recreation Specialist Erin Holmes. “Young people may not realize that some of the music they hear today, and they will be skating to at this event, is from about 50 years ago. Their parents and grandparents are likely to remember.”
Concessions and skate rentals are available. For more information, contact the Roosevelt Park Ice Arena at 605-394-6161.
