Custer Crews Busy with Lightning-Sparked Fires

CUSTER, S.D. – The Custer Volunteer Fire Department had a busy Friday and Saturday responding to wildfires sparked by lightning from mid-week storms. The department assisted crews from the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and South Dakota Wildland Fire (SDWF) on two separate incidents in the Black Hills.

According to Great Plains Fire Dispatch, a number of fires were reported across the region. The Custer Volunteer Fire Department responded to two of those incidents, joining federal and state agencies in the suppression efforts.
