SIOUX FALLS – Matthew Grubic scored two goals in the final two minutes of the first half and Rapid City Stevens held on to defeat Sioux Falls Christian 3-2 in a boys soccer match Friday night in Sioux Falls.
Josh Mueller had assists on all three goals for the Raiders, who improved to 6-1-1 on the season.
Mueller sent a pass through the Chargers’ defense in the 20th minute, and Miles Wright scored to give Stevens a 1-0 lead. Mueller and Grubic then connected on two goals just before halftime.
The Chargers scored on a breakaway goal midway through the second half and a penalty kick in the final minute to cut the deficit to one. The Black Hills team’s defense held in the final seconds to secure the victory.
