A Free, Hands-On Community Event for the Whole Family

Looking for a fun, free evening the whole family will enjoy? Come down to the Pennington County Road and Rescue Experience! This hands-on event gives kids the thrill of climbing into the driver’s seat of real snowplows, fire engines, and rescue vehicles—while parents get an up-close look at the vital work our public service teams do every day. With exciting equipment displays, friendly crews to meet, and local food trucks on-site, it’s the perfect mix of learning, adventure, and family fun—all in one place.

What to Expect

The Pennington County Road and Rescue Experience is a free, family-friendly event that offers the community a rare behind-the-scenes look at the vehicles, equipment, and teams that serve and protect Pennington County every day.

Formerly known as the Touch-A-Truck Family Night, this interactive event allows kids and adults alike to:

  • Climb inside real heavy equipment and emergency vehicles

  • Meet the crews who maintain our roads and respond to emergencies

  • Learn how our infrastructure and public safety teams work together

  • Enjoy food trucks and fun for all ages

 

Who Will Be There

This year’s event will feature equipment, demonstrations, and team members from:

  • Pennington County Highway Department

  • Pennington County Sheriff’s Office

  • Pennington County Search and Rescue

  • Local Fire Departments

Each agency will showcase their tools of the trade and talk about the critical roles they play in keeping our community safe, connected, and prepared.
