PIERRE, S.D. – A Sioux Falls man was arrested this week on felony charges including possession of child pornography and a controlled substance, according to a release from South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley.

William Michael Tillman, 60, was taken into custody Tuesday by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) following an investigation by the state’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). A field test conducted by DCI indicated the controlled substance was methamphetamine.

Tillman faces five counts of Possession of Child Pornography, each carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison with a one-year mandatory minimum. He also faces one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance, which has a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

The Minnehaha County State’s Attorney is prosecuting the case. In addition to DCI, the Sioux Falls Police Department and the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the investigation.

A bond hearing for Tillman was held Wednesday afternoon. He is presumed innocent under the U.S. Constitution. The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement in South Dakota to combat child exploitation and drug offenses.
