Homicide Shooting on Watertown Street

RAPID CITY, S.D. – An adult male is dead following a shooting Wednesday evening at an apartment complex on East Watertown Street in Rapid City. Police responded to reports of gunshots around 7:15 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 200 block of E. Watertown Street.
Upon arrival, officers found a man with gunshot wounds inside an apartment. Police provided first aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Multiple individuals were taken in for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities believe the incident was not a random act.

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation are assisting the Rapid City Police Department with the investigation. The area remains an active crime scene.

The police have stated that this incident does not appear to be connected to another ongoing homicide investigation involving Nicholas Selig, who is a person of interest in the shooting death of Vernon Selig.
