RAPID CITY, SD — At 3:10 am on August 22nd, an officer en route to an unrelated call saw a surprising sight, as 20-year-old Orlando Barrientos drove by with the driver’s side door open at Maple Avenue and Omaha Street.
The Rapid City resident then struck a curb, “causing the driver to fall out of the driver’s seat onto the roadway and get his legs run over by the rear wheels of the car,” according to an RCPD statement following the incident. After making contact with the driver, police investigated a reported “Smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person,” and while Barrientos refused treatment, police concluded that the 20-year-old was unfit to operate a motor vehicle, and arrested him on counts of DUI and underaged consumption of alcohol.
