STURGIS, S.D. — The Northern Hills Drug Court will host a graduation ceremony on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, honoring participants who have successfully completed the program. The event will take place at 1 p.m. MDT in Courtroom #3 at the Meade County Courthouse, located at 1425 Sherman St.
The ceremony highlights the significant impact the program has had on the community by helping individuals overcome substance use and mental health disorders. Friends and family are invited to attend, and the public and media are also welcome.
Taressa S., a 2024 graduate of the Northern Hills Drug Court, is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech, offering words of encouragement to the new graduates. Each graduate will also share their personal journey and experiences with the treatment court process.
Part of the Fourth Judicial Circuit’s Treatment Courts, which cover Butte, Lawrence, and Meade counties, the Northern Hills Drug Court began in 2007. These courts combine supervision, treatment, and support to help participants achieve lives of stability and recovery. This approach has been shown to reduce repeat offenses and save taxpayer money.
