STURGIS, S.D. – South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley on Monday announced a fifth arrest in connection with a child exploitation operation conducted by the South Dakota Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
It was announced four men were arrested the week of the Rally while attempting to meet with a person who they believed to be a 14-year-old girl for the purposes of engaging in sexual activity.
Jackley announced Monday a Summerset man had also been arrested and charged with Solicitation of a Minor and Attempted Manufacture of Child Pornography. He was identified as 36-year-old Jackson Wolfgang Witte.
The other four men are 36-year-old Elmer James Hopper and 30-year-old Jayson Gomez of Rapid City, 23-year-old Beau James Remington of Black Hawk and 36-year-old Joshua Michael Allen of Hermosa. They are facing federal charges while Witte was facing state charges.
Jackley says the ICAC Task Force, which is part of the Attorney General’s Office, worked in partnership with the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the Rapid City Police Department, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Marshals Service. The operation was conducted Aug. 1 through Aug. 6.
