It might seem like a little thing to go out of your way for but to someone, it’s a really big thing
LEAD, S.D. — The Lead Volunteer Fire Department took what they called a classic call for a cat rescue Wednesday.
“We’re not much for stereotypes, but we embraced the classic cat-rescue call!” the group wrote in a Facebook post.
A worried citizen called about their cat, Pearl, who’d climbed a tall pine tree and lounged there for over a day, the post said.
Enter Ladder 2 and Seagrave Meanstick 75′ Quint, charging in like a hero on a mission. The crew set up with pinpoint precision, carefully positioning Ladder 2 to reach high while staying steady on the ground.

Due to the downward slope of the terrain, the ladder was positioned higher than the base of the tree. The ladder was stretched 69′ out from the turntable at a 10-degree angle.
A firefighter then climbed up and scooped up the cat, Pearl, and returned her to a grateful owner waiting on the ground.
“We’re thrilled to serve our community. Sure, this might sound like a classic firefighter story, but it’s also a chance to hone our skills and perfect our craft,” they wrote.
