Public can view proposed budget online
RAPID CITY, SD—After a week of budget reviews with City department directors, the Rapid City Council has scheduled a special session for discussion and first reading of the proposed 2026 City budget.
The special City Council budget meeting is scheduled for next Monday, August 18 at 5 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall. The meeting will precede the regularly-scheduled City Council meeting scheduled to convene at 6:30 p.m. the same evening. Both meetings are open to the public.
The proposed 2026 budget is available for viewing by the public on the City of Rapid City’s website at www.rcgov.org . The first item listed in the Community Bookmark section on the website’s homepage is entitled ‘2026 Proposed City Budget’.
State law requires municipal budgets receive two formal ‘readings’ with approval by the City Council.
