RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man is in custody after a traffic stop for a parking violation led to a foot chase, a struggle with officers, and multiple charges, including DUI and assault on law enforcement.
At approximately 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, Rapid City Police Department officers responded to a parking violation near the intersection of Custer Street and Farlow Avenue.
Officers made contact with the driver, identified as 38-year-old Joshua Brunson of Rapid City, and observed several signs of impairment, including slurred speech.
During the interaction, Brunson fled on foot. An officer attempted to use a Taser, but it was ineffective. Brunson then reportedly turned and attempted to tackle another officer. A physical struggle ensued before officers were able to detain and handcuff Brunson.
Brunson was placed under arrest for several offenses, including DUI (4th), Obstruction, Resisting Arrest, Simple Assault on Law Enforcement, Driving Under Revocation, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle. He was also placed on a Parole Hold.
