RAPID CITY, S.D. – A search is underway for a Sioux Falls man wanted in connection with a shooting that left one person seriously injured in Rapid City on Wednesday.
Rapid City Police were alerted to the shooting at approximately 7:05 p.m. on July 31 when a driver flagged down an officer near Mount Rushmore Road and Allen Avenue. The driver stated that the male passenger in his vehicle had been shot.
Detectives determined the shooting took place in the 700 block of Farlow Avenue after an interaction with the occupants of another vehicle. The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated for serious injuries.
The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Kenneth Norman of Sioux Falls. Norman is currently wanted for a parole violation. Authorities believe Norman may have traveled to the eastern side of South Dakota following the shooting.
Police say the shooting was not a random act and that the victim and suspect are acquainted. Norman should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached by the public.
