RAPID CITY, S.D. — It’s the first weekend of August, and you can already feel the rumble in the air. The 85th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is officially underway, bringing with it the roar of engines, the scent of exhaust and freedom, and the unmistakable energy of the world’s biggest motorcycle party.

If you’re headed to the rally, remember that The Loud American in Sturgis is the place to be all week long — loaded with great food, strong drinks, live music, and pure rally madness.

But for those keeping it local this weekend, Rapid City has plenty to offer. From fresh flowers and punk rock to community support and live music, here’s your full Weekend Rundown:

FRIDAY, AUGUST 1

Bloom Bar at Victoria’s Garden
12 PM – 5 PM | Victoria’s Garden
Get in touch with your creative side at this casual flower bar experience. With just a $5 studio fee plus the cost of stems, guests can create their own floral arrangement. Bring your own vase or use one provided on-site. Staff “Flower Goddesses” are there to lend a hand if needed — making it a perfect Friday stop whether you’re with friends, a date, or flying solo.

Death Support at the VFW
7 PM | Main Street VFW | All Ages | $10 Admission
Brace yourself for a heavy-hitting metal show headlined by Death Support, joined by False SurrenderHowling Embers, and more. It’s an adrenaline-charged night of moshing and mayhem. All ages welcome — but leave the drama at home.

Pop Punk Show at 445 Lounge
9 PM – Midnight | 445 Lounge | Free Show
National touring act FRND CRCL brings their JRSY FRSH tour to town fresh off their latest album release. Rapid City’s own The Outside Kids and Fueled by Spite join the bill, turning this into a DIY pop punk dream. Expect loud guitars, catchy hooks, and all the nostalgic angst you can handle.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 2

Silent Auction for James Rick
All Day | Sally O’Malley’s
Rally season isn’t just about parties — it’s also about looking out for each other. Sally O’Malley’s is hosting a silent auction to support James Rick, a local rider who was seriously injured in a recent motorcycle accident. Community members are encouraged to stop by, donate, or bid on auction items. Every contribution helps.

Tanner Johns Live at 445 Lounge
9 PM – Midnight | 445 Lounge
Tanner Johns closes out the weekend with a live set blending country, funk, blues, and rock into one powerhouse performance. Known for his incredible vocals and electric guitar chops, Johns promises a high-energy, soulful night of music.

While Rapid City holds it down with hometown happenings, the action in Sturgis is just heating up. Whether you’re enjoying the city or joining the rally crowds, make it a weekend worth remembering.
