STURGIS, S.D. – Hundreds of people descended on “Freedom Field” at the Buffalo Chip Campground a week before the official start of the 85th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally to put in place 800 American flags, honoring all fallen service members who have given their lives for our Nation.
South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley was on hand Saturday evening to make a few remarks to the volunteers who gave their time to place the flags on Freedom Field.
The 800 flags surround a solid granite memorial stone honoring all branches of service, and the Fallen Soldier Memorial, both in the center of Freedom Field. The benches circling the stone offer a peaceful place for visitors to rest and reflect.
