RAPID CITY, S.D. – Great Plains Fire Dispatch says lightning sparked a handful of small fires around the area on Wednesday.
The Sihiller Fire was reported 4 miles north of Rochford. The fire burned a tenth of an acre of Forest Service land and was listed as contained Thursday morning.
The Brown Canyon Fire was reported 5 miles south of Four Corners, Wyoming. It, too, burned a tenth of an acre and was controlled as of Thursday.
The Dutchman Fire burned a tenth of an acre near the north end of Deerfield Lake. The fire, on federal property, was controlled as of Thursday morning.
And, in central South Dakota, the Red Plum Fire burned just under 3 acres about 5 miles southeast of Fort Pierre. The fire, on both federal and local property, was listed as controlled.
