RAPID CITY, S.D. – A man was arrested for drunk driving Sunday afternoon after crashing into a tree and then backing his car into a police cruiser.
Police say 30-year-old Levi Muldrow was arrested following the incident that occurred near the E. Saint Patrick and Cambell Street intersection Sunday afternoon.
At around 3:15 p.m. on July 20, officers saw a silver car make an improper lane change. The car did not stop and continued into the trailer park at 1515 E. Saint Patrick Street, moving slowly before hitting a tree.
Police say the driver then put the car in reverse and backed into a patrol vehicle. Officers ordered the man out of the car and onto the ground. He followed commands and was placed in handcuffs.
The driver, identified as 30-year-old Levi Muldrow of Rapid City, smelled strongly of alcohol, according to police. After a DUI investigation, officers determined he was too impaired to drive.
Muldrow was arrested and taken to the Pennington County Jail. He faces charges of:
- Driving Under the Influence
- Improper Lane Change
- Failure to Stop for an Emergency Vehicle
There were no injuries reported.
