RAPID CITY, SD—The City of Rapid City is developing a Downtown Beautification Plan. As part of the plan’s development, city staff in collaboration with Wyss Associates will host an open house Wednesday, July 30 at the Dahl Arts Center from 4-7 p.m.
The session is open to the public.
Event organizers indicate the open house will feature maps and infographics for community members to view and provide feedback.
“The City is bringing forward a cohesive landscape master plan for the future of the downtown district,” said City Environmental Planner Morgan Twombly. “The focus area is generally described as East Boulevard to West Boulevard, and Omaha Street to Quincy Street. The primary focus of the work will be along Main Street and Saint Joseph Street within this area while incorporating improvements already made along Kansas City Street.”
Twombly said the City of Rapid City has contracted with Wyss Associates on plan development. Wyss Associates’ projects include the Memorial Park Promenade, Main Street Square upgrades, Kansas City Street improvements and the Sixth Street Corridor.
The open house is the initial step in the City’s work with the community to obtain feedback on how to revitalize the downtown area, according to Twombly. Subsequent meetings will be held to present the draft master plan and collect additional feedback.
