RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Community Development Department will be hosting an open house on proposed vacation home rental regulations. The session will be held Thursday, July 24 from 2-4 p.m. in the Circle of Friends Community Room at City Hall, 300 Sixth Street.
The purpose of the open house is to share information and gather feedback from the community on the draft ordinance regulating vacation homes in the city limits of Rapid City.
“The draft ordinance reflects recommendations made by the steering committee based on community input received throughout the engagement process,” said Marlo Kapsa, Rapid City’s Planning Projects Division Manager. “It’s also based on extensive research on regulatory best practices from local communities and throughout the country.”
Following the open house, the draft ordinance is anticipated to be taken before the City’s Planning Commission and the Rapid City Council in August or September. Kapsa indicates community members will have the opportunity to provide additional feedback on the proposed regulations to appointed and elected officials throughout the public hearing process.
Specific Planning Commission and City Council meeting dates on the proposed vacation home rental regulations will be announced on the City’s social media and website once they are scheduled.
