Hill City, S.D. – Besides being busy with a boat fire on Sunday, the Hill City Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire south of town yesterday, successfully containing a blaze to a bathroom with no reported injuries. The incident on Sunday, July 13, was one of three back-to-back calls for service for the department.

Engine 11 was the first on the scene, observing smoke emanating from the residence. Firefighters swiftly gained entry and located the origin of the fire within a bathroom. Crews quickly extinguished the flames and conducted a thorough search for any extension, finding none.

The Hill City Volunteer Fire Department expressed gratitude to assisting agencies, including the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), 2FC1, FM10, Pennington County Dispatch, and Hill City Ambulance, for their support during the incident.
