Arrest After Alleged Shots Fired

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man was arrested Thursday evening after allegedly firing a gun near an improvised camp under the I-190 bridge. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Rapid City police were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. on July 10 to the area of I-190 and Omaha Street following reports of gunshots. Witnesses told officers a suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Latrell Tayle of Rapid City, had approached an outdoor camp beneath the north portion of the I-190 bridge over Rapid Creek.

According to witness statements, Tayle brandished a firearm and was involved in a disturbance with a group of people at the location. Witnesses reported that Tayle left the camp shortly before the gunshots were heard.

Police located Tayle a short time later near West Boulevard and Kansas City Street, where he was detained without incident. A firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was found during a search of the area.

Tayle was booked into the Pennington County Jail on five counts of Aggravated Assault with bond set at $25,000. The Rapid City Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
