RAPID CITY, SD — Next Monday’s meeting of the Rapid City Common Council will include five members taking oaths of office for the next three-year term, election of Council officers for the 2025-26 year and recognition of outgoing Council members.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall. The public is invited to attend.
Mayor Jason Salamun will call the Council meeting to order and members will consider a short list of old business items. The Council will then recess to conduct swearing-in and recognition ceremonies.
Outgoing Council members Jesse Ham and Pat Roseland will be recognized for their service to the City Council and community.
City Finance Director Daniel Ainslie will then administer the oath of office to Stephen Tamang (Ward One), Bill Evans (Ward Two), Greg Strommen (Ward Three), Lance Lehmann (Ward Four) and Callie Meyer (Ward Five), who were elected last month for three-year terms on the Council. They will join the other five Council members: Josh Biberdorf (Ward One), Lindsey Seachris (Ward Two), Kevin Maher (Ward Three), John Roberts (Ward Four) and Rod Pettigrew (Ward Five).
The new Council will then reconvene and one of the first orders of business will be to elect the president and vice president of the Council for the next year. Maher is currently serving as Council president with Roseland as vice president.
After the election, the Council will commence with the remainder of the agenda.
