RAPID CITY, S.D. — As the Fourth of July approaches, the City of Rapid City has released its schedule of closures and service adjustments in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
City offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Friday, July 4. The Rapid City Landfill and the Rapid City Public Library will also be closed for the day, with landfill operations resuming normal hours on Saturday, July 5.
Trash collection will follow a modified schedule for the holiday week. Monday’s pickups will proceed as usual, while collections from Tuesday through Friday will occur one day early. Residents are asked to place their trash out until it is collected.
Public transportation services, including RapidRide and Dial-A-Ride, will not be operating on Independence Day but will resume on Saturday.
The Monument will be closed Friday and remain closed through the weekend due to no scheduled events, although tickets for future events can still be purchased online at www.themonument.live/events.
The city’s outdoor pools will remain open with adjusted hours—noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, and until 4 p.m. on Friday, July 4.
Administrative offices at the Rapid City Police Department, Fire Department, and Rapid City Regional Airport will be closed, but emergency services will remain on duty to support local holiday activities. The airport itself will remain open.
Residents and visitors can look forward to the City’s annual fireworks show on Friday night at approximately 9:30 p.m. from Executive Golf Course.
The Rapid City Municipal Band will provide a festive lead-in with a concert starting at 8 p.m. at the Memorial Park Band Shell.
