RAPID CITY, S.D. — A group of cyclists riding across the country to raise funds and awareness for The Fuller Center for Housing will roll into Rapid City on Independence Day after completing a 97-mile stretch from Interior, S.D.

The riders are part of the Fuller Center Bicycle Adventure, a 10-week, 3,800-mile journey that began May 24 in Florida and will conclude August 2 in Oregon. During the trip, cyclists are raising money to support efforts to eliminate poverty housing through the nonprofit’s chapters in the U.S. and abroad.

This Fourth of July stop marks a rare two-day break in the schedule. Riders will spend July 5–6 exploring the Black Hills and welcoming new segment participants before departing July 7 for Newcastle, Wyoming. While in Rapid City, the group will be hosted by Calvary Lutheran Church.

“This isn’t just a ride — it’s a mission,” said ride leader Neil Mullikin. “We’re sharing stories, raising awareness, and lending hands to communities along the way.”

In addition to cycling, participants stop for at least six build days to assist with housing projects organized by local Fuller Center partners. The route includes landmarks such as Mount Rushmore, Badlands and Yellowstone national parks, and Crater Lake.

Since the ride began in 2008, more than 1,800 cyclists have logged over 1.9 million miles and raised more than $6.4 million for the Fuller Center. Founded in 2005 by Millard Fuller, the organization is marking its 20th anniversary this year and holds a four-star rating from Charity Navigator.

The cyclists welcome interviews and media coverage during their time in the Black Hills. For more information or to schedule an interview, contact Mullikin at 785-338-6533 or neil@fullercenter.org.
