Barbara Crawford

Barbara Jean (Cox) Crawford, 78, of Sundance, WY, passed away on June 19, 2025, at Sundance Memorial Hospital after a brief and courageous battle with lung cancer.      

She was born on November 16, 1946, in Deadwood, SD, to Lyle and Betty Cox, and grew up in and around Sturgis, SD. Barbara graduated from Sturgis Brown High School in 1964 and earned her degree from Black Hills State College in 1968.

That same year, she married John Cram, and together they had two children, Darbi and Philip. The marriage ended in divorce in 1981. In 1984, she married Lindell Crawford, and they made their home outside of Sundance, WY.

Throughout her life, Barbara worked in a variety of education, library, and community service roles, including positions at Black Hills State University, Crook County Senior Services, and Sundance Schools. She was known for her dedication to helping others and her commitment to lifelong learning.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Lindell Crawford; her children, Philip Cram and Darbi Hunt; her stepchildren, Riley Crawford, Ryan Crawford, and Dawn Crawford; and many beloved grandchildren, extended family members, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Stan Cox.
