Rosella Zimmerman

Rosella Zimmerman, age 79, of New Leipzig, ND, passed away on June 11, 2025, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

Funeral services for Rosella will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Elgin, ND. Pastor Mike HarriSon will officiate with burial to follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Elgin.

Rosella Zimmerman, formerly Rosella Zentner, was born March 24th, 1946, North of Burt, North Dakota. After being raised alongside her 5 siblings attending primary and secondary school in Mott, she studied nursing at Dickinson State College, which obtained her a job as a Licensed Practical Nurse. During her time working at Jacobsen Memorial Hospital and Care Center, she met the love of her life, Wilmer Zimmerman. Rosella and Wilmer would later soon marry in 1968, moving Rosella from hospital work as a nurse, to farming on the family farm North of New Leipzig, North Dakota. Rosella stayed home as she raised her 5 children, but would later return to working as a nurse at Jacobsen Memorial Hospital and Care Center. Rosella was a homemaker, farmwife, an excellent cook, talented quilter, and an exceptional canner, which she loved to do. Rosella also enjoyed yard work, sewing, tending to her garden, and traveling. Rosella left an impact on so many and is memorable for making special gifts for those most important to her. Rosella’s famous quote, remembered by all that knew her, stated that “great women raise great women who raise great women”.

Rosella is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Wilmer Zimmerman; children, Renae Mack (Rusty Pray) of Loup City, NE, Danel (Robert) Berger of Richardton, ND, Tanya (Bryan) Glass of Hebron, ND, Trisha (Brian) Flemmer of Bismarck, ND, and Weylin Zimmerman of Belen, NM; grandchildren, Desirei (Geoff) Cook, Shantel (Ross) Daake, Cheyenne (Adam) Rosentreader, Colton (Karly) Mack, Kasey (Keary) Berger, Kaylee Berger, Makenzie (Austin) Ball, Taizalee (Kane Unruh) Glass, Brycen Glass, Madison, Kambree, Brielle Flemmer, Haven Zimmerman; fifteen greatgrandchildren; brother, Darby (Denise) Zentner; sisters, Ardella Dschaak, Susan Scott, and Marcia (Jay) Linnemann; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Rosella is preceded in death by her parents, Innozent and Eva Zentner; parents-in-law, Ted and Hilda Zimmerman; brother, Gary Zentner; sister-in-law, Sharon Zentner; brother-in-law, Ruben Dschaak; and grandson, Ty Glass.
