HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – Governor Larry Rhoden is calling this week’s visit to the State Veterans Home in Hot Springs encouraging after recent changes at the facility.

He met with staff, veterans, and local leaders there.

But State Senator Amber Hulse called for more attention needed just down the road at the Hot Springs VA Medical Center. She says services there have been cut, and veterans are being sent elsewhere for care. Hulse wants the Trump administration to invest in the aging facility, especially to support homeless vets and those facing mental health or addiction issues.

Rhoden says things have stabilized at the state’s VA hospitals, and he’s hopeful for more federal support moving forward.
