STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Commission this week approved setting an election date of July 15th for residents of the Wonderland Homes Subdivision to decide whether or not to form their own road district.

If the proposed district is approved, a nomination and election of a Board of Trustees will take place following the election.

Any person or public corporation that is landowner of land located within the proposed road district is eligible to vote.

The election will take place in the Commission Room at the Meade County Erskine Administration Building, 1300 Sherman Street, Sturgis, between the hours of 5pm and 7pm on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

If the election has a majority “yes” vote, a meeting for election of Board of Trustees will immediately follow.

The commission also approved two resolutions this week regarding county fees.

Meade County Resolution 17 establishes fees for on-call engineering support services in which the county is involved.

Meade County Resolution 18 will establish fees to modify fees referenced within Meade County Ordinances.
