STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office praised a wide array of cooperative help as they responded to an injury on a ranch Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff Pat West says the “incredible work of our first responders was on full display.”

The incident involved an accident involving a horse that resulted in a serious injury to a local rancher. West says the swift and coordinated efforts of their first responder team were instrumental in ensuring a positive outcome. He says within minutes, a Life Flight helicopter was dispatched, landing in a pasture to transport the patient to the critical care they urgently required.

West says this incident underscores the exceptional teamwork and effectiveness of Meade County’s first responders.

The sheriff’s office says “we extend our best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to the injured individual.”

The sheriff’s office also said “We are also grateful to the family for permitting us to share photographs and this story, which highlights the remarkable work being done in Meade County.”
