RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City woman, was arrested after leading police on a chase that ended when police pulled her from the car.
The incident started around 3:15 on the morning of May 18, 2025, when police saw a vehicle driven by Veronica Perez, a 26-year-old, traveling on East Saint Patrick Street without headlights on. Police stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Saint Andrew and Fifth streets.
When the officer approached the car, the female driver reportedly took a pill from the center console and started to smoke it in a glass pipe. The driver then drove off.
Police followed her until the car came to a stop near Saint Andrew Street and Lincoln Avenue. The driver refused to get out of the vehicle and finally had to be pulled from it.
Perez was arrested on nine charges, not to mention six outstanding warrants. Charges are: driving under the influence, eluding, obstruction, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, ingestion of a controlled substance, driving under suspension, no proof of insurance and driving without headlights.
