RAPID CITY — The City is hosting its first-ever ‘Coffee With Engineers’ session, hosted by the City’s Public Works Engineering Division. Modeled after the popular ‘Coffee with Planners’, the one-hour session is scheduled for Thursday, May 29 at 10 a.m. in the Circle of Friends Community Room of City Hall.  The public is invited.

The ‘Coffee With Engineers’ event will create an opportunity for contractors, developers, members of the general public and City staff to discuss various topics in an informal setting.

Discussion topics at the upcoming breakout sessions will include an update on new map layers in Rapid Map; the use of double-walled polypropylene pipe for City stormwater facilities;  and an explanation of the process for developing administrative rules for construction-related lane rental charges.

Participants are allowed to rotate to different discussion circles during the hour-long session.  City staff will share information and field questions.

“’Coffee with Planners’ created a great format for getting insights and feedback from the public,” said City Engineer Roger Hall. “We want to take this format that has been proven to work and expand on it to provide the public the same opportunity to interact with our engineering staff. We are excited to sit down over coffee and a bagel and have a great discussion with our citizens.”

Bagels, coffee and water will be provided.  For more information, contact the City’s Engineering Services division at 605-394-4154.
