RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Sturgis Scooper baseball team defeated Douglas 21-5 in Rapid City Thursday night.
Douglas jumped on top of the Scoopers in the bottom of the first, scoring 4 runs to take a 4-1 lead.
Sturgis, however, would plate 8 runs to take a lead they would not relinquish in the top of the second.
Sturgis would add five runs in the fourth and an additional seven in the fifth.
The offensive onslaught by the Scoopers included Bridger Massa-Battin going 2-5 with 4 R.B.I., Jace Thurman going 4-4 and scoring 2 R.B.I. and Elijah Stroud going 3-3 with 3 R.B.I.
Sturgis, who improve to 8-15 on the year, will play at Spearfish Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.
