Agreement extends through the 2029-30 season, includes capital improvements
Rapid City – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, are pleased to announce they have signed a five-year lease extension with The Monument, effective through the 2029-30 season. Part of the extension agreement includes capital improvements to the ice arena over the next two years. Upgrades will begin during the 2025 offseason.
“This is a major development for both us and The Monument, and we are excited to announce a long-term lease extension to keep Rush hockey right here in Rapid City,” said Rush president Jared Reid. “We love calling Rapid City home and are committed to this market. Our fans deserve a great product and we look forward to enhancing both the on-ice and fan experience starting with this upcoming season.”
The home of the Rapid City Rush since the team’s inception in 2008, The Monument is the Black Hills’ premier entertainment venue, hosting a plethora of concerts, sporting events, conferences, and more year-round. The Rush play and practice at the 5,119-seat ice arena, which will continue to host Rush hockey for years to come.
“We’re proud to extend our long-standing partnership with the Rapid City Rush — the longest standing professional sports team in Rapid City’s history,” said Craig Baltzer, Executive Director of The Monument. “From the beginning, we’ve been committed to professional hockey in Rapid City, and this agreement reaffirms that commitment for years to come. We’re honored to be part of the Rush legacy and excited to invest in the future of the team, the arena, and the experience for our community.”
The Rush will continue to host 36 home games at The Monument Ice Arena from October to April during the regular season, drawing over 100,000 hockey fans each year.
