Hermon B. Walker

Hermon B. Walker passed away on February 20, 2025, in Laughlin, Nevada at the age of 90.

Herm was born October 21, 1934, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Deadwood, South Dakota to Harold J. and Mary E. (Hughes) Walker. He attended school in Sturgis, South Dakota graduating in 1952. He attained his law degree from USD in Vermillion, SD in 1961 and began a fulfilling legal career practicing in Sturgis and Rapid City, SD and in Nevada. He retired from Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort and Casino as Don’s Corporate attorney at the age of 83.

Herm was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge #47, Sturgis, SD; a lifetime member of the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club, Sturgis, SD; a member of the Iron Butt Association having completed a 1,000- and 1,500-mile endurance rides. He served several years on the Laughlin City Council.

Herm was a friend and mentor to many as a member of AA for over 50 years.

Surviving him are six children: Harold J. Walker II, Elizabeth A. (Walker) Sanford, John H. Walker, James B. (JB) Walker, Ryan C. Walker, and Marimichael M. Walker; one sister, Beth J. Walker, on sister-in-law, Carol B. Walker; 7 grandchildren: Ashley, Casey, Dylan, Kelsey, Madeline, Christian, and Kennedy; 11 great-grandchildren, and great friend Malibu Diaz.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen (Kathy) A. Walker; brother Bruce J. Walker; niece Sandra Bosley Schoen; nephew Brent Bosley; parents Harold and Mary Walker; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; friend Shirley Watts; and one very special canine companion, Alex.

Memorial services will be held at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD on Monday, May 12, 2025 with visitation at 10am and service at 11:30. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.
