STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident at a construction site that damaged equipment.

In a social media post, the sheriff’s office says it happened at a campground site where work was being done to install potable water, but did not say where the campground was located.

Pictures shared by the sheriff’s office show a backhoe and smaller Bobcat style tractor were driven into a trench that was dug to lay pipe.

Authorities were still looking for the suspect or suspects and if anyone had information to contact them.

There was no word on how much damage the two pieces of equipment sustained in the joyriding incident.
