Pennington County Treasurer, Annette Brant announces the “Property Taxes” drop box will be open for payments 24 hours a day / 7 days a week in the County Administration Building located at 130 Kansas City Street, Rapid City, SD through midnight April 30th.
The drop box is located inside the main entrance next to the brightly colored motor vehicle self- service terminal on the Kansas City Street side of the building clearly marked “Property Taxes”. ONLY property tax payments will be accepted in this manner. Payments being dropped off should include the Tax ID No.: you are paying for and have your current phone number on the payment. Receipts will be mailed to those requesting a return receipt. The drop box will be accessible only through midnight on April 30th. All payments made after that time will be subject to interest.
Other methods of payment:
Payments may be made in person during regular business hours (Monday through Thursday 7 am to 6 pm) at the County Administration Building located at 130 Kansas City Street, Suite 250, Rapid City, SD. Phone in payments must be made by 4:00 p.m. MST on April 30th. A convenience fee for this method of payment applies.
Payments may be sent through the mail and must include the payment stubs for each Tax ID No. Payment are to be made payable to the Pennington County Treasurer and mailed to PO Box 6160, Rapid City, SD 57709-6160. Payments made through the mail must be postmarked no later than April 30th to avoid interest. Payments sent to the counties old address on Saint Joseph Street or to our physical address may no longer be forwarded by USPS and could be returned to you. Current remittance address has been on tax notices since 2018. Avoid late payments and update your records especially for those using online banking. Payments must be Postmarked by April 30th and addressed to PO Box 6160 to avoid interest due.
On-line payments may also be made at PennCo.org through the April 30th midnight MST deadline (caution to those waiting until the final hour as heavy use of this method may complete your transaction after the deadline and interest would be due) use the Department drop down for the Treasurer’s Office and pay taxes- you can also view and retrieve your tax notice from this year and last if needed in this same search area.
