(UPDATE) Disruptive Passenger Forces Flight Diversion to Rapid City; New Yorker Arrested

UPDATE – The flight was United flight 1292, Chicago to Vancouver. It was delayed by 1 hour and 57 minutes.

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A United Airlines flight was diverted to Rapid City Regional Airport Tuesday morning due to a disruptive passenger, according to the authorities.

The Rapid City Police Department received notification of the disturbance at 10:30 a.m. A captain reported a non-compliant passenger causing issues in the cabin, leading to the decision to land at the nearest airport.

Upon arrival at the terminal, police boarded the flight and met with the passenger, identified as George Zoitas, 42, of New York. Authorities stated that Zoitas remained uncooperative and was subsequently removed from the aircraft.

Zoitas allegedly continued to cause disturbances within the airport terminal. He was arrested and booked into the Pennington County Jail at 12:59pm on a charge of disorderly conduct.
