CITY OFFICES, LANDFILL, RAPID TRANSIT CLOSING
ON GOOD FRIDAY
Trash collection adjusted for holiday week;
Library, Swim Center, Ice Arena open
RAPID CITY–City administrative offices will be closed Friday, April 18 in observance of Good Friday. The holiday closure will affect city transit and trash collection services. Some City facilities will be open and services operating on Good Friday but closed on Easter Sunday.
Here is a schedule rundown of City offices and services for the Easter holiday week:
• City offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Good Friday, April 18.
• Rapid Transit Services, including RapidRide and Dial-A-Ride, will not be operating on Good Friday, April 18 but will operate on a normal Saturday schedule on Saturday, April 19.
• The City Landfill will be closed and there will be no collections Friday, April 18. City garbage collection will be adjusted during Easter week with normal collection on Monday, with Tuesday to Friday collections scheduled a day earlier (Tuesday on Monday, Wednesday on Tuesday, etc.). All routes will be completed by Thursday afternoon. Residents are asked to set out trash and recycling containers by 7 a.m. and leave out until collected. The Landfill will be open with normal hours of operation on Saturday, April 19.
• The Rapid City Library will be open Friday and Saturday but closed Sunday.
• Rapid City Area Schools will be observing Spring Recess April 14-21. The Roosevelt Park Swim Center has extended open swim hours in both pools Monday through Friday of spring break week with leisure pool hours from noon to 7:45 p.m. and lap pool hours from noon to 5 p.m. Both pools will be open Saturday, April 19 from noon to 5:45 p.m. The facility will be closed Easter Sunday.
• The Roosevelt Park Ice Arena’s public skate hours during holiday week: next Monday and Tuesday from 1:30-3:30 p.m., Thursday from 1:30-3:30 p.m.; Good Friday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and 7:30-9:30 p.m ., and Saturday from 1:30-3:15 p.m. The facility will be closed Easter Sunday.
• The Monument will be closed on Good Friday. The facility will be open for events on Easter Sunday.
• Rapid City Fire and Police Departments will have normal shift operations with administrative offices closed Good Friday.
• Rapid City Regional Airport’s terminal will be open and flights operating as scheduled. Check airlines for flight schedules. Administrative offices will be closed.
