SPEARFISH, S.D. – Governor Larry Rhoden stopped at Black Hills State University as part of his statewide “Open for Opportunity Tour” Thursday.

The Governor and his staff, along with BHSU alum Secretary Marcia Hultman, Senator Randy Deibert, and Representative Mary Fitzgerald spent time with BHSU President Steve Elliott, BHSU staff, faculty, and students for a campus tour and to learn about the partnership between BHSU and the Sanford Underground Research Lab.

Rhoden has been traveling the state sharing information about Open for Opportunity Tour, in which the hope is to bring what towns are doing – or wanting to do – together with what state government is working on in order to access the best economic development opportunities possible.

One area Rhoden thinks has potential for expansion is international trade.

Rhoden also sees value added agriculture projects as another way to enhance South Dakota’s various agricultural sectors.
