Jon David Boe, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, in Rapid City, South Dakota, at the age of 69. Born on August 11, 1955, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Jon’s life was a testament to the virtues of hard work, creativity, and selflessness.

A proud graduate of East Grand Forks Senior High School in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Jon went on to further his education at Vo Tech School in East Grand Forks. His love for building and craftsmanship led him to a fulfilling 40-year career as a self-carpenter, where he not only constructed structures but also built lasting relationships in both Grand Forks and Rapid City.

Jon’s zest for life was evident in his passion for stock car racing, a thrilling hobby he pursued in the late 1970s and early 1980s. His adventurous spirit carried over into his love for hunting birds, a pastime that allowed him to revel in the beauty of nature. Above all, Jon valued the time spent with his beloved family, cherishing every moment and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

He is survived by his two devoted sons, Derrick (Athebra) Boe and Dana Boe; his adored grandchildren, Saidee, Shelby, Aiden, and Abigail Boe; and his loving sister, Jan Boe. Jon was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Boe; his brother, Jay Boe; and his grandson, Sampson Boe. His legacy will live on through the lives of those he loved and the countless lives he touched with his generosity and spirit.

Jon was a man whose hands could fix anything, earning him the reputation of being incredibly handy. His selfless nature meant he was always the first to offer help to a neighbor or friend in need. His creative soul shone through in every aspect of his life, from the intricate details of his carpentry work to the innovative strategies on the racetrack.

In remembering Jon, we are reminded of the words of Helen Keller: “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.
