Pat (Pattie Marie) was born on November 27, 1958, in Muncy, Pennsylvania. Her parents were Lynn and Elsie Heberling. Pat’s sisters are Cathy Brooks, Judy Stabler, and Brenda Blue.
Pat’s dad Lynn was a farmer, and Pat was very proud of her farmer dad. She liked to talk about how she helped her dad on the farm. Because Pat helped her dad so much on the farm, and Lynn had no boys, Pat was kiddingly and lovingly called, “Lynn’s son”.
Pat graduated from Muncy High School in 1977, and then in March 1978 she joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged June 1989.
Although Pat’s friends warned her against marrying U.S. Marines she married Brian Ross anyway in December 1990. Brian and Pat have eight grown children: Jason Ross (married to Sunbeam), Connie Sanders (married to Josh), Brandon Ross (married to Lily), Caleb Ross, Hannah Douglas (married to David), Tabitha Ross, Noah Ross (married to Samantha), and Charity Ross.
The Lord blessed Pat with 17 grandchildren, and she was a wonderful grandmother to all these children.
Pat knew Jesus Christ as her Savior, and her passion was caring for and teaching Sunday School kids. From 1995 to 2019, Pat also successfully homeschooled her own children for 26 years.
Pat was a Marine Corps wife, a Missionary wife, and a Pastor’s wife, and she was much appreciated in all these roles. She is survived by her loving husband, Brian, who provided much care and assistance throughout the past decade during her battle with cancer and her treatments.
On March 16, 2025, Pat passed away with her husband by her side, and she is now in heaven without any more tears or sorrow.
Visitation will be Friday, March 21, 2025, 9:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Sturgis, SD, with a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
