STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office says a man who did not obey a school bus stop sign was under the influence.
On Friday, March 7, 2025, at approximately 3:00 PM, a Meade County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a vehicle illegally passing a stopped school bus with its flashing lights activated while children were being dropped off on Sturgis Road.
A traffic stop was conducted, and upon making contact with the driver, the deputy determined that the individual was not only in violation of passing the school bus but was also operating the vehicle while under the influence of an illegal substance. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Meade County Jail.
The Meade County Sheriff Office’s says this incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of impaired driving and the reckless decisions that can follow.
