HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – Great Plains Fire Dispatch says fire crews have responded to a wildfire burning south of Hot Springs.
The Green Acres Fire is burning approximately 3 miles southwest of Hot Springs.
Federal, State and Local resources have responded to the blaze, and air support has also been called in.
Witnesses have seen air tankers dropping slurry ahead of the fast moving fire.
The fire is reported to be at 25 acres as white smoke was seen billowing out from the blaze.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol was asking area residents in the Hot Springs area to avoid Highway 71 due to the heavy fire traffic.
