Lisa Ormesher Ruleaux, 63, of Black Hawk, SD, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD. Lisa’s warm heart, beautiful smile, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on September 7, 1961, in Valentine, NE, to Wayne and Dolores Ormesher, Lisa was the youngest of three children. She grew up in Valentine and later moved to Winner, SD, in 1969, where she graduated from Winner High School in 1979. Lisa was a devoted mother to her two children, Dustin and Loni Beranek, before eventually moving to Pierre, SD, in 1999. It was there that she pursued her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse, earning her RN license through the University of South Dakota in Rapid City.
Lisa worked as a travel nurse in New Jersey and later returned to South Dakota, where she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre and Avera Medical Clinic. Her passion for caring for others was evident in her nursing career, which touched countless lives over the years. Lisa was a kind and compassionate caregiver who found fulfillment in helping others.
In 2007, Lisa met and married the love of her life, Frank Ruleaux. They shared a strong bond and cherished their time together. In 2016, Lisa and Frank moved to Black Hawk, SD, to be closer to Lisa’s children and grandchildren, and they were joined by Lisa’s parents, bringing the family even closer.
Beyond her work as a nurse, Lisa had a deep love for the outdoors. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and fossil hunting, and she dreamed of one day having an animal farm or dog sanctuary. Lisa was known for her immense love of animals and people alike, and her joy for life was contagious.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Frank Ruleaux; her mother, Dolores Ormesher; her brother, Daris Ormesher (Lynne); her sister, Julie Sinclair (Trent); her children, Dustin (Leonor) and Loni (Casey); and her five grandchildren, Dale, Luke, and David Beranek, Olivia, and Emily Colson. She is preceded in death by her father, Wayne Ormesher.
A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1st, at 11:00 am at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.
